Meetings.3.00 - 5.00pm Tuesdays Fortnightly.
Venue:Market House, Exchange Street, Driffield.
In our first two sessions the group discovered the numbers and alphabet of the French language and with the aid of puzzles learnt how to
use the bi-lingual dictionary.
Information about the origins of the French nation was commenced and members discussed their visits to France, illustrating their experiences with photographs and memen- tos. The origins and development of Eurotunnel and its subsequent use by Eurostar was comprehensively researched and presented by one member.
Our most recent meeting centred on the food of France and eating out; regional specialities, customs associated with dining, ordering food and exploring the menus of Maxim's famous restaurant!
One member provided us with an account on the life and work of the pia- nist and composer, Erik Satie and we listened to an example of his music.
We have established a regular routine of keeping abreast of French current affairs by reviewing media coverage.
Please note This group will be changing venue for our next meeting. This change will facilitate a better learning environment as appropriate DVDs, CDs and educational books will be available.
We will meet at No 51, Taylors Field on 23rd February.
