Gainsborough Old Hall. Gainsborough Old Hall was not only the home of the Burgh family but also a demonstration of their wealth and importance. By 1596, however, the Burghs had fallen on hard times and the house was sold to the Hickman family. Although a number of "home improvements " have been made over the years it remains a "textbook of medieval architecture". The trip includes a guided tour of the Hall. £22.00 per person.
Walking Holiday Meeting 26th February Market House, Exchange Street.
Time: 11.00am.
To gather information re dietary requirements or other info you to wish to let the hotel know in advance . We will be discussing the itinerary so bring any ideas for excursions etc. I am currently looking out suitable walks. I also need to collect £50.00 per head non returnable deposits, cheques made out to Cairngorm Travel. If you cannot make the meeting let Phil Dunn know in advance.
Monthly Meetings 8th March Driffield Community Centre "The History of Crime Writing" given by Kate Evans. She has written two crime novels set in Scarborough and her presentation is a kind of a game with the audience and will be reading extracts from novels to illustrate it.

Nunnington Hall is a country house situated in the English county of North Yorkshire. The river Rye, which gives its name to the local area, Ryedale, runs past the house, flowing away from the village of Nunnington. A stone bridge over the river separates the grounds of the house from the village.
£22.00 per person, if National Trust member cost is £15.00.

Ampleforth Abbey is a monastery of Benedictine Monks a mile to the east of Ampleforth, North Yorkshire, England, part of the English Benedictine Congregation. It claims descent from the pre-Reformation community at Westminster Abbey through the last surviving monk from Westminster Sigebert Buckley.

Monthly Meeting 12th April Driffield Community Centre "Photographing Every Day" A return visit by Ernie Howard (Chairman of Driffield Photographic Society) who gave us an excellent slide show and commentary early last year. This time he is giving us some of his selected daily shots along with photography hints and advice.
